The Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2014 took place in Wijk aan Zee (The Netherlands) January 10th - 26th. Games: January 11-13, 15, 17-19, 21, 23, 25, 26.
1. Levon Aronian - 8, 2-3. Anish Giri, Sergey Karjakin - 6.5, 4-6. Fabiano Caruana, Leinier Dominguez Perez, Wesley So - 6, 7. Pentala Harikrishna - 5.5, 8-9. Loek van Wely, Hikaru Nakamura - 5, 10. Boris Gelfand - 4.5, 11-12. Richard Rapport, Arkadij Naiditsch - 3.5.

Round 11: Aronian obtained a small advantage in the Dutch vs van Wely, but Loek counterattacked on the kingside and won after Levon's mistake 38.exf4?.

Round 10: Dominguez had a slight edge in the Spanish vs Aronian, but Levon sacrificed a pawn in the center with the strong 20...e4! and took the initiative on the kingside, then on the queenside, and won.

Round 9: Aronian obtained a small advantage vs Karjakin, won a pawn and the game.

Round 6: Aronian outplayed So in a rare line. Nakamura produced a novelty in the Berlin Spanish, 14...h5, vs Dominguez, but then lost the exchange, a draw after mistakes.

Round 5: Nakamura-Karjakin 1/2. Sergey had counterplay in the Nimzo-Indian Defence, but the position was complicated. A draw by perpetual check.

Round 4: Aronian had a small advantage vs Nakamura in the King's Indian and endgame, the novelty 20...gxf3 by Hikaru. Better was 34.Nxb7, winning. But Levon won after the bad 40...Kd7?.

Round 3: Rapport had a development advantage vs Aronian, but the endgame was drawn.

Round 2: Aronian obtained a small advantage, grabbed a pawn and won vs Caruana, who played a novelty, 9...Nd7. So had a slight edge vs Nakamura, a draw.
