Sparkassen Chess Meeting, Dortmund 2015

The Sparkassen Chess Meeting 2015 took place in Dortmund (Germany) 27th June - 5th July. Fabiano Caruana won the tournament again.
1. Fabiano Caruana - 5.5 out of 7, 2-3. Wesley So, Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu - 4, 4. Vladimir Kramnik - 3.5, 5-6. Ian Nepomniachtchi, Arkadij Naiditsch - 3, 7-8. Hou Yifan, Georg Meier - 2.5.

Round 7: Caruana brilliantly sacrifices the rook to beat Nisipeanu. A fabulous win by Fabiano! Meier could have won with 29...Re4! vs Naiditsch, a draw. Hou sacrificed the exchange vs Nepo, with compensation due to the passed pawn, a draw by perpetual check. Kramnik gave the bishop for pawns vs So, but Wesley grabbed all pawns and won.

Round 6: Caruana grabbed a pawn and won vs Hou. Kramnik had a slight advantage vs Nisipeanu, then won a pawn in the endgame, a draw. Nepomniachtchi beat Naiditsch in the Queen's Gambit. Meier-So 1/2, a draw.

Round 5: Kramnik sacrificed the exchange, therefore Caruana had some advantage and won, 28.Kd4= was better. So played the King's Indian Saemisch System or Modern Benoni vs Nepomniachtchi, however moves 17. Bd3 and 19. Be2 were not good, Ian had counterplay, but made mistakes and lost. Hou obtained a small advantage in the Nimzo-Indian vs Naiditsch, 28...Nb3! was better, a draw. Nisipeanu grabbed a pawn vs Meier, but the endgame was drawish.

Round 4: Nepomniachtchi grabbed a pawn vs Nisipeanu, a draw in the rook endgame. Hou-So 1/2, a draw by perpetual check. Caruana-Naiditsch 1-0, Fabiano had two passed pawns. Meier-Kramnik 0-1, a sharp fight, Georg made an error, 50. Ke2 and lost.

Round 3: Kramnik won a pawn vs Nepomniachtchi, then in the drawish endgame Ian made a mistake, 46...Be5? and lost. Naiditsch stormed the kingside and beat So. Meier attacked on the kingside vs Caruana, but Fabiano counterattacked on the queenside and even won. Hou had good counterplay vs Nisipeanu, a draw by perpetual check.

Round 2: Kramnik produced a good novelty, 8...Ne7! in the Spanish, obtained a clear edge with the strong 16...Nc5! vs Hou Yifan, and won. Nepomniachtchi-Meier 1/2, a draw by perpetual check. So had an advantage vs Caruana, and won in the endgame. Nisipeanu beat Naiditsch in a sharp fight.

Round 1: Nisipeanu attacked the black king in the centre and beat So. Nepomniachtchi-Caruana 1/2, a draw by perpetual check. Naiditsch grabbed a knight and won vs Kramnik. Meier had an advantage in the endgame vs Hou, a draw.
