The Ukrainian Chess Championship 2004 took place in Kharkiv 23rd August - 2nd September. 32 players, knock-out system.
Final: Korobov, Anton - Volokitin, Andrei 1/2, 0-1.
For 3rd place: Goloshchapov, Alexander - Moiseenko, Alexander 0-1, 1/2.

The World University Chess Championships 2004 took place in Istanbul (Turkey) 5th-11th September.
1-2. Smirnov, Pavel (Siberia); Khismatullin, Denis - 7 from 9; 3-7 Aroshidze, Levan; Ghaem Maghami, Ehsan; Bocharov, Dmitry; Jenni, Florian; Jobava, Baadur - 6; etc.
Evgenija Ovod won the women's event.

The 23rd original North American FIDE OCF Open 2004 took place in Oklahoma (USA) 3rd-6th September.

The Pune Super GM and International Chess Tournaments 2004 took place in India from 2nd to 12th September.
