The World Junior u-20 Championships 2003 took place June 21st - July 3rd in Nakhchivan (Azerbaijan).

The 32nd Team Championship was the most powerful the last years in Greece.
KYDON SPORTS CLUB of CHANIA is the Greek team champion in chess. In the champion that finished on Friday, KYDON took the first place in the standing, with 8 wins and 1 draw in 9 games. In the team of KYDON played the chessplayers: Zurab Azmaiparashvili, Giannis Papaioannou, Maria Kouvatsou, Marie Sebag, Ioannis Nikolaidis, Stratos Grivas, Giorgos Souleidis, Filippos Kouvatsos, Haritomeni Markantonaki, Dimitris Sekadakis, Aggelos Sandalakis. Sponsor of the team was BLUESTAR FERRIES.

The International festival of chess, bridge and games Czech Open 2003 took place 10.-27.7.2003 in Pardubice. There were registred altogether 1522 players from 48 countries including 63 GM + WGM and 106 IM + WIM.
